I met Zombie or Stuart Kolakovic as some people call him, years ago when I worked at Cide Skateshop. He used to come in and we'd go skate Southbank. He's one odd dude, but he's also one of the most talented, hardworking and inteligent people I've ever met.
I got this little pack from him this morning, its so amazing, I can only think that he roled a 22 sided dice and found it match my name and thats why I got sent one.
I've been working on larger works for my exhibition in Melbourne, over the past few weeks. This ones more developed now, but this is what it looked like last week.
Stu printed me some 50cm x 70cm to sell at the Mangle sale and from my webshop, he dropped them round last week so I coud sign them and get them out to people who've bought them.
The guys at The Mangle have organised a Xmas Sale on the 10th December at Jaguar Shoes. I've made some new tea towels, mugs and prints to sell there and also sell on my online shop for Xmas presents.
The mugs, tea towels and the screen prints are on sale RIGHT NOW! from my online shop...
I also have some other screen prints and shirts to sell at the sale. Please come by and grab something.
I'm working on stuff for the show at Backwoods and I've been testing allot of work out in my sketchbook. I've not used a sketch book in a while, but I've started to find its really helpful to think and develop ideas and ways of working, especially to make some larger works.
Chas sent me this pic, he took it when we were staying with our friend Scott in San Fran, just after my 21st Birthday in 2001. I was living in Kansas at the time and Chas came over to stay for my 21st, so we could hang out and skate. We took a trip to S.F, I'd never been there before, it was a seriously fun trip, to S.F and also being on Kansas.
In about 2005 I got a call from Paulo, he'd was over from France on a skate trip filming with a bunch of guys from Antiz and Lyon. They were up in Scotland at the time and they were coming to London for a week or so and they were desperate to find somewhere to stay. At the time I was living in Brixton and my flat was often the hotel for euro skateboard traveller. Paulo had said there's a "few of us", but when I met them from the tube station there were allot of them. Among this rabble of really polite, shoe less and also injured and friendly french dudes was a very young Samuel Partaix. At the time I think he'd just got on Antiz and was really starting to kill it.
They stayed at mine for a week and were the best house guests I ever had at Crownstone Court, the house was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. They managed to sleep in the living room, it was sleeping bag tetris.
At the time I was working on stuff for an exhibition in LA and 2k had just sent me some shirts I'd designed, this artwork of the "live to Ride" skull was one of the shirts, and was also one of the first shirts I made for 2k. I gave one to Sam, I dont think I've ever seen anyone that stoked on being given a shirt, I was really happy that he liked the artwork. When he was over here this year for DTSD he was asking about getting the artwork from me to get tattooed, I sent it to him and now I'm really proud to say my friend Sam has it on his body for life. Thanks Sam, I'm stoked you like my drawings that much to get it stapped into skin.
The new buyers guide is out, I'm stoked, not only have they put in a little Witchcraft section and have Paul's Witchcraft board on the cover, also Paul Parker, Lovenskate Stu and myself have interviews about our work inside the magazine. You gotta watch out for Paul and Stu big things are gonna come from them in the future I can feel it.
I'm having a solo show at the Backwoods gallery in Melbourne, Australia in Feb. I've got a load of ink works made already and some pencil ones, nearly all A3. But I've been working on allot of stuff in my sketch book, smaller than A5. So I decided to make some works A1 from some of the other drawings I have from my sketchbook.
There's allot more want to add to this, but this is what I've got done in the last couple of days.
I should have an invite for the show done pretty soon.
At the weekend the Witchcraft team and I went to Plymouth for the Prime Delux "Hell Fest" its skate Jam for Halloween. My friend Nick asked me to paint a couple of walls at the park for the event.
I made Nick get trick of the day, he say's he's not skating much these days, I wish I could be this good and not skate that much?
Ben at Jack Cham's got me to draw this on the wall in the bar on Monday morning.
Thanks allot to Nick and all at Prime for making the weekend so much fun.
